The last leaves of Autumn

All of the earthy tones of yellow and brown. The striking blaze of reds and orange.

Each leaf gradually turning, and then gently dropping, falling to the ground.

It is beautiful. And this Autumn, we are experiencing it anew in a different part of the world.

And there is something very special about beholding a red maple tree in its full November regalia.

Yes, this time of year is special indeed. But something to ponder is this…

What of the last leaf to fall? The one that says that winter is nearly here.

Does it bring sadness, or hope? Sadness that mild days are probably gone for a few months. Or hope that the beauty of cold days, and cosiness of winter clothing, evenings by the fire, walks in the snow with loved ones are here once more?

Autumn can be wet and wild here sometimes , but I think I’ll hold on to the fact that it is the gateway to lovely winter days. As short as they are. And only three months until Spring…

The hygge is on its way…

But that’s for another post…
